NOTA is excited to announce the launch of the NOTA Blog Contest. I would like to briefly share with you some information on what this contest is about and how it will work.
In the beginning of every second month NOTA will post a question that relates to a specific topic or theme. The topics in this contest will usually involve some field of work in the language services industry (e.g. translation, interpreting, editing, etc.) and some sphere of life (e.g. personality/inner self, emotional state, career aspirations, cuisine/appetite, leisure & entertainment, etc.) and will be different each time the contest is held. You will be able to answer the contest question by replying to the post and submitting an entry with your response to the given question. You will be given 30 calendar days to think about your response and answer the question from the time the question is posted on the NOTA Blog. After 30 days all of your responses will be collected and evaluated by NOTA Executive Committee and other NOTA members. The time it would take to evaluate the responses will directly depend on the total number of submitted entries, but will usually fall in the range of 2-4 weeks from the entry submission deadline.
Your entries will be evaluated based on the following criteria: ability of the response to relate to the contest topic, ability of the response to relate to the contest question, the use of evidence and interesting examples, sufficiency of information in the response, adherence to confidentiality standards in the language industry and thoughtfulness of the response. The NOTA Executive Committee and members will then use the results of the evaluation to vote for the best entry. The winner of the contest will be awarded a prize.
