This is a reminder that NOTA will be hosting Translation Tools Conference and Annual Dinner on Saturday, September 15th.
The conference will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in Satterfield Hall Room 311&313 at Kent State University and will feature two webinars and two live presentations on translation software tools and applications that are widely used among translators and other language specialists. The webinars and presentations will acquaint you with Trados, MemoQ, Fluency and Transit NXT and will examine their functionalities and applications. After attending this conference you will learn about benefits and challenges of using each of the above listed software tools and how to choose the most appropriate software tool for your needs.
The conference registration fee is $10/person for NOTA Members, $30/person for non-members and free of charge for IAL students. The registration deadline for the conference is Wednesday, September 12th, however, we strongly encourage you to RSVP far in advance due to limited space.
The Annual Dinner will be held at 6:00 p.m. at Laziza, an authentic Mediterranean restaurant, located right in the downtown Kent area. The dinner will feature some delicious Mediterranean style appetizers and entrees among which will be traditional Hummus (a puree of chickpeas, fresh garlic, tahini sauce and lemon juice, garnished with parsley and a splash of extra virgin olive oil), House Salad (garden salad with romaine, tomato, red onions with house or ranch dressing), Beef Shish Kabob (beef tenderloin cubes, char-grilled with mushrooms, tomato and onion), Chicken Shawarma (thinly sliced breast of marinated chicken lightly seasoned and topped with grilled onions) and many more. After the entrees you will be able to enjoy the unforgettable taste of the classic Mediterranean Baklawa and Lady Fingers.
The cost of the dinner will be $30/person with taxes and gratuities being already included in the price. Each guest will be issued a separate bill which must be paid directly to the restaurant.
