Jamie Padula, ATA Chapter & Division Relations Manager, issued our 2014 Chapter Rebate this month. Headquarters reviewed ATA’s 2014 membership database to calculate our chapter’s annual 10% rebate http://www.atanet.org.

The chapter rebate is based on the 2014 membership renewal forms. Members do not always elect a chapter to receive a rebate and not all members pay the same dues (e.g. students, two members in one household, etc.) This might explain some discrepancies between the estimated number of ATA members in our chapter and the Headquarter’s data. Remember to check NOTA when you renew for the 2015 rebate.

Our check totals $825.00. A tip of the hat to Jill, Membership Chair and Reinhold, trusted treasurer, who helped make this happen. We thank Jamie and you who continue to support ATA and the local chapter.

I, John P. Shaklee, NOTA President and Citizen of the World, hereby promise that this is the final selfie to upload to our NOTA blog and therefore surrender my selfie stick to the proper authorities in the County of Stark, City of North Canton on the fifteenth day of August in the Year of our Lord two-thousand and fifteen (2015). NOTA hosted a translation tools conference and annual dinner last evening in Kent. The tools conference included two webinars and live presentations. Gabor L. Urgray of Kilgray demonstrated MemoQ over http://www.gotomeeting.com from Hungary. Dan of Western Standard focused on how Fluency improves the entire translation experience.

After students and participants schmoozed and sipped in the hallway, Alan Horvath of STAR Group America/Transit peppered his discussion with jokes and $100.00 offer to keep the crowd participating. Next Dr. Sue Ellen Wright walked the group through SDL Studio.

Yaneth Garcia won a copy of Translator’s Tool Box by Jost Zetsche. She can expect her copy in the mail soon.

No event would be complete without sumptuous dining. Over ghallaya, tabour and baba ghanoush the group chattered with a smidgen of Russian, Spanish and perhaps German thrown into the fray. The NOTA membership boasts 120 interpreters and translators and enjoys a sizable treasury. Thanks to all who made this possible.
